Description

A London 2012 Ambassador, Jo Ankier was a successful and popular Team GB athlete. A distance runner specializing in the 3,000 meter Steeplechase and the 1500 meters, she won the London Junior Marathon in 1997 and 1999 and her career grew from there. Jo has competed in a variety European meets, world championships and ran in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

In 2008, she achieved the ‘A’ standard to qualify for the Beijing Games, but disappointingly was not invited to join the Olympic squad.
An intelligent lady with many talents (including grade 8 cello) during her time on the track, she wasn’t idle off it, and with her strong communication skills, experience of an elite athlete she began to develop her media talent.
Covering athletics for BBC London, she attended the Athens Olympics as a live reporter, and went on to work with UKTV and Sky Sports News. In addition to her work as a sports presenter, Jo has solid experience of sports marketing having worked for some leading agencies.

Now a fulltime presenter, currently anchoring on Chelsea TV and a co-presenter on JNet radio, Jo is able to use her experience as an international athlete in addition to her contacts, to produce fresh and unique reports and interviews from an all round perspective.
