Description
Blackburn born rugby world cup winner Iain Balshaw, is a personality that always leaves an impression. Whether it’s his warmth over a drink in a bar, or carving up opposition defences with his pace and tackling busting runs.
Iain joined Bath as a teenager and remained there for six years, making 106 appearances, where he starred alongside many greats of the game such as Jerry Guscott, Mike Catt and Ieuan Evans in what was a golden period for the club. He then played for Leeds, Gloucester and is currently enjoying life with his family in France running out for Biarritz.
In his Premiership career he scored 52 tries, in the 1999/00 season he scored the most tries in the league (15).
When Iain arrived on the international scene, he was heralded as one of England’s brightest young talents. He collected his first England cap in the 2000 6 Nations tournament coming on as a replacement against Ireland. Iain went on to win 35 caps, scoring 13 tries along the way.
Off the back of his quality England and club performances, Iain was called up to tour with the 2001 Lions to Australia.
